Honoring and remembering Private Russell Daniel Lord, of Company A, The Murphy Guards, from DeKalb County, Georgia. A hearty salute to Private Lord for his exceptional service, enlisting in September of 1861, he was there to see the final curtain fall at Appomattox Court House, April 9th, 1865. Few can claim to have faithfully served for so long during the war.

Enlisted as a Private 9/26/1861. Wounded in head at the battle of Fredericksburg, VA 12/13/1862. Surrendered atAppomattox Court House, VA 4/9/1865. (Born in Jackson Co., GA 2/14/1838.) Filed a Confederate Pension Application in Fulton Co., 1888. Died 6/9/1914. Buried Mt. Paran Cemetery, Fulton Co. Grave marker reads: 38 GA INF
