Daniel, John J.- Jr. 2d Lt. 9/29/1861. Resigned 4/22/1862.

Resigned due acute rheumatism and complete inability to perform military duties, while the regiment was at Savannah, Ga.

Buried in the Daniel - Bryan family cemetery on Moke Arnold Rd. outside Crawford, Ga, Philomath, Oglethorpe. Brother in law of E. M. Drake of the same company.

The entire county will be shocked to learn of the death of Capt. J. J. Daniel, which occurred at his home in Woodstock yesterday morning. Capt. Daniel was known and highly esteemed by nearly every citizen of the county. He had held many positions of public trust and had been a member of the Board of Commissioners for four years past. He was in the 72nd year of his age and was a ruling elder in the Presbyterian church. He was a veteran of the war between the states, being in the same company with Lt Lester (Lt. George H. Lester) and other of like character. He leaves a wife, two daughters and one son to morn his loss.
