Gazaway, James H. – (James Henry Gazaway) 3d Corp. 9/26/1861. Appointed 2d Sgt. May 14, 1863. Captured at Gettysburg, Pa. 7/1/1863. Paroled at Point Lookout, Md. for exchange October 11, 1864. Received at Boulware & Cox’s Wharves, James River, Va., October 15, 1864. Admitted to Jackson Hospital at Richmond, Va. October 16, 1864, and furloughed for 60 days November 6, 1864. No later record. (Born in Ga. in 1840.)

Son of Amelia Henry and John Gordon Gazaway (1805-). Born in Georgia in 1840. Brother of Francis M. Gazaway and William Gazaway of same company. He died in 1933 and is buried at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, DeKalb Co., Ga., along with his wife.
