Pvt. James B. Peterman

Peterman, J. B. - (James B. Peterman) Pvt. 5/10/1862. Roll for 2/28/1863, last on file, shows him present. No later record. CSR states enlisted at Franklin, Ala and was wounded in action 12/13/1862, at battle of Frederickburg. Widow, Arian Bray Peterman, filed a CSA widow’s pension application in Oglethorpe Co., Ga. in 1891. She stated he was killed instantly by a grape shot through the head, fired by a Federal battery, during the battle for Maryre’s Height, 5/4/1863. Service claimed in pension record as a member of Co. A, 60th Ga. Inf. Regt. 1860 US Federal Census record shows he was born in Ga. abt. 1834, resident of Henry Co., Ala., in 1860 Census. Brother in law of Henry Bray of same company, according to descendants. Burial site unknown.
