Willoughby, John B. - Pvt. 10/1/1861. Wounded at Gettysburg, Pa. July 2, 1863, and died there of wounds in General Hospital August 3, 1863. CSA records state he was wounded in the abdomen at Gettysburg. Died Aug 31st according to hospital records. His remains were returned to Savannah, GA according to an article in the Savannah Morning News; dated Tuesday, August 22,1871. Buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, Ga.

Attached below is the hospital record of his treatment after being wounded. It interestingly notes a large piece of wire was removed from his abdomen, which was probably part of an artillery shell fragment.
