Mr. John D Brown, an old Confederate veteran and one of the best known and most highly esteemed citizens of Elbert County, died at his home near Bowman Sunday. He was 77 years of age and has been quite feeble for some time. The deceased held the confidence of all who knew him. He was a brother-in-law of Mr. J. E. Campbell, of Elberton, and has a large number of relatives in Elbert and Hart counties. B. 09-Jun-1834, d. 29-Sep-1912 h/o Martha A. Burden, buried at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
