Private Allen Brown and his two brothers, Lewis and Killis Brown, all enlisted in Company K, the Bartow Avengers. Private Allen Brown served with distinction from the very conception of the company, in September, 1861, until the bitter end at Appomattox Court House, on April 9th, 1865.

The Brown brothers’ war record is exceptionally impressive in the fact that two the three brothers (Allen & Lewis) surrendered at Appomattox, while the third (Killis) was in a Yankee prison camp at the time of the surrender.
