Ball, William M.- Pvt. 3/1/1862. Wounded in left leg and captured at Gettysburg, Pa. 7/1/1863, and paroled in 1863. Retired to Invalid Corps at Athens, Ga. 9/10/1864. (Born in Ga. 2/15/1837.) Filed for a CSA pension in 1888 in Milton Co., Ga. Stated he was shot in the left hip joint, dislodging the thigh bone, at Gettysburg, the bullet becoming lodged in the ball of his hip joint and making one leg several inches shorter than the other. Lt John Baxter and John Carpenter signed an affidavit attesting to his service. His widow, Jane E. Ball, filed for a CSA pension in 1920 in DeKalb Co. She stated they were married 10/14/1858 and she was 76 years old in 1920. W. J. Williams and F. L. Hudgins signed an affidavit attesting to his service.
