Seaborn Francis Baggett was born July 29th, 1840 in Richmond Co., Ga. He enlisted as a Private in Company G, the "Battey Guards," on October 1st, 1861, at Mount Mariah Church, Jefferson Co., Georgia. He endured four arduous years of service in the 38th Georgia Regiment and surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, on April 9th, 1865.

Seaborn married Mary E. Young after returning home from the war, in 1865. He filed a CSA pension application in 1901 in Emanuel Co., Ga. listing his occupation as a farmer. A. S. Smith signed an affidavit in application attesting to his service in the 38th Ga. His wife Mary died about 1902 and Seaborn died March 17th, 1908 in Swainsboro, Emanuel Co., Ga. He is buried at Canady burying ground beside his wife.
