Mashburn, John W. (or Mashbourne) ( John Wesley Mashburn ) - Pvt. 5/6/1862. Appointed 1st Sgt. July 8, 1862. Captured near Mine Run, Va. May 12, 1864. Paroled at Fort Delaware, Del. February 1865. Exchanged March 7, 1865.

Died of disease on May 15th, 1865, soon after returning home. He was the son of Rev. John Harvey Mashburn, the first Chaplain of the regiment.

Mary M. Mashburn filed a pension application in Forsyth Co. in 1891. She stated he was captured in the battle of Spotsylvania on May12th, 1864 and died at home, Hall Co., Ga., of chronic diarrhea. She said they were married Feb 27th, 1851 and she was resident of Ga. since July 2nd, 1835. He was born Jun. 3, 1832, d. May 15, 1865, buried at Ebenezer Cemetery, Forsyth Co., Ga.
